23rd ANZAM Operations, Supply Chain, and Services Management Symposium

Supply Chain and Project Management in an Increasingly Complex and Uncertain Global Environment

The global business environment is undergoing a period of profound transformation. Supply chains — once optimised for efficiency and cost — are now being stress-tested by an unprecedented convergence of forces: geopolitical instability, trade fragmentation, climate-related disruptions, rapid technological change, and shifting workforce dynamics. These forces are not temporary shocks but structural shifts that demand a fundamental rethinking of how organisations plan, execute, and deliver across their supply chain and operations networks.

In this environment, the principles and practices of project management have never been more relevant to supply chain and operations professionals. Managing complexity, navigating uncertainty, coordinating across organisational and national boundaries, and delivering outcomes within constrained resources are challenges that sit at the intersection of project management and supply chain management. Yet the integration of these two disciplines remains underexplored, and the opportunities for cross-disciplinary insight are significant. From megaproject delivery and infrastructure development to digital transformation initiatives and humanitarian response operations, supply chains are increasingly being designed, reconfigured, and managed through a project management lens.

Call for Papers

We invite contributions addressing issues in the operations, supply chain, and services management disciplines, with a particular focus on the intersection of project management and supply chain in complex and uncertain environments. Papers addressing our theme of Supply Chain and Project Management in an Increasingly Complex and Uncertain Global Environment are welcome, as are papers that engage with broader challenges of supply chain resilience, digital transformation, sustainability, eco-innovation, and cross-sector collaboration. We encourage submissions from all conceptual, analytical, and empirical perspectives, including case studies, systematic literature reviews, simulation and modelling studies, and mixed-methods research.

Paper Submission

Submissions will be accepted in two categories: full papers or extended abstracts. For an accepted submission to be published in the Symposium proceedings, at least one author must register for the Symposium and present the work. A person may be the author or co-author of multiple submissions; however, each individual may present a maximum of two submissions (full papers or extended abstracts). All extended abstracts will be included in the Symposium proceedings. Full papers will be published in the proceedings with the authors’ consent. The Symposium proceedings will be made available in digital format only.
